Northwest Wisconsin / Travel Photography
There are places in this world that it seems as if time has stopped, or at least slowed way down. I find these places to hold beauty and nostalgia for a time when I still believed. I’m not saying that I don’t believe anymore, it’s just that my beliefs have changed. In youth, there’s a mystery to things, like, you don’t go into the woods at night because monsters will get you.
I didn’t grow up in a small town and I didn’t grow up in the 50’s or 60’s, but small towns that look like they have stopped in the 50’s or 60’s tug at my heart. What is it that I feel I’ve lost, if it is something I’ve never had?
These photos were taken this past August when Tim and I were in the small Northwest towns of Wisconsin.
We stopped at Clover Meadow Winery in Shell Lake Wisconsin. This place was amazing! These people are living completely off the grid, making their own energy and growing their own fruit to make their own wine and brandy. They also take in abused animals. They had a few horses and several cats and dogs. The horses were free to wander around the grounds. It was beautiful in more ways than one! I definitely recommend it!
Thanks Nancy! I’m glad you like my photos! I will check out your book.

Thank you Tiffany for the nostalgia. I grew up in Wisconsin and recently wrote a book about it (see my website). So you can see why I’d like your photos.
